Fête de Noël 2017
On Sunday the 10 December, our members enjoyed a very successful " Christmas pizza party" at the Patacca Sicilian Pizzeria in Morrison Square. What a beautiful day. There was great French music, lots of pizza and conversation and Maman Noël did the rounds with exchange a gift. Thanks to Leigh who organised this lovely event with 32 attending. Your Florentines were amazing too. The staff was very accommodating and the Tirimazu was incredible!

A conversation with Olivier Weber 2016
We had a great time on December 2016, meeting Olivier Weber at NMIT for an interesting and impresive conversation about conflicts, environment and boarders. Olivier's been wherever there is a conflict: Afghanistan, East-Timor, Sri Lanka, south Sudan, Irak, Palestine, Cambodia, etc. He had a lot of personal experiences to share, stories to tell and lessons to teach, it is an incredible Globe-Trotter!
Olivier has also been a French Ambassador at large for five years working for the French government, taking his pen a notebook, camera and backpack wherever he could. And after travelling all around the world, it was a great privilege that he actually made it for the first time to....New Zealand! |
Nicolas Fargues in Nelson 2015What a wonderful experience in April! French Randell Cottage writer-in-residence was invited by us to have a wee conversation about his novels (he's been prolific with over 10 novels and hundreds of thousands sold), his life, his experiences overseas (he's managed two Alliance Francaise), his plans in New Zealand and life in general. A fantastic audience and the support of NMIT and the French Embassy allowed us to get to know much this successful writer and have several opportunities (NMIT and at La Gourmandise) to interact with someone both talented and very accessible. Nicolas spent three days in Nelson which gave him plenty of opportunity to discover our beautiful city.

Fête de Noël 2015
On Sunday the 13 December, our members with their families and friends enjoyed a very successful "garden party" at the Nelson Hinemoa Croquet Club. What looked like a weather unfriendly day turned out to be perfect for an "intense" sport activity namely, croquet, followed by a delicious buffet and of course, good wine. A very fine way to end a great year in style and looking forward to another great one coming! |
